About Therapy With Yerina Kim

When the Life You Wanted Comes With Feelings You Didn’t Expect

You can love the life you’re building and still feel lost inside the transition.

Pregnancy, new parenthood, a relationship changing shape, a move into a chapter you chose on purpose: any of it brings up feelings that don’t fit the story you thought you were supposed to be living.

Grateful and anxious. Capable and overwhelmed. Close to the people you love and strangely far from yourself.

Both halves of that are true at once, and neither one cancels the other.

Why Your Family’s Patterns Get Louder Now

A big transition pulls older experiences closer to the surface.

Family patterns you had stopped noticing become easy to see again. What your family and your culture expect of you starts to weigh more.

Questions about who you are and who you’re becoming turn urgent instead of theoretical.

All of that is worth talking about directly, rather than treating it as background noise on the way to the real problem.

Bring the Complicated Version With You

In here, what you’re going through gets room to be complicated.

You do not need to minimize what you’re feeling because somebody else “has it worse,” and you do not need to force yourself into gratitude when what you need is space to understand what’s happening.

I take what you bring seriously, including the parts you’ve been editing down for everyone else.

Steady the Week and Still Ask the Bigger Question

Our work moves in two directions at the same time.

Part of it stays practical: workable ways to handle anxiety and stress in the weeks you’re actually living.

The rest of it takes up what practical tools don’t reach: your history, your relationships, your sense of who you are, and the expectations you grew up inside.

Neither one waits for the other to finish.

You Come Back to Yourself While Everything Else Keeps Moving

The aim is for you to feel more grounded in yourself, measured by something other than how much you got through today.

You’ll have a clearer sense of what you want, more capacity for the weeks that ask a lot of you, and more say in how this chapter goes.

You can meet what’s being asked of you and still count yourself among the people you’re taking care of.

About Yerina Kim, MA

Hi, I’m Yerina. My clinical interests include trauma, women’s mental health, pregnancy and postpartum concerns, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, identity development, cultural concerns, and life transitions.

My style is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I especially enjoy working with women who are navigating major changes and trying to make room for their own emotional lives while also meeting the expectations and responsibilities around them.

I believe therapy can be both supportive and active: a place to feel understood while also gaining a clearer sense of yourself and what you want moving forward.

Begin While You’re Still in the Middle of It

The complicated middle of a transition is exactly when therapy has something to work with.

Talk about it while it’s still happening to you.

Tell Us Where You’d Like This to Move

You don’t need the whole thing figured out before you write to us.

Some people know exactly which kind of therapy they want. Others know only that something isn’t working anymore, and that’s enough to start with.

Tell us what’s been going on, what you’ve already tried, and what you’d like to feel different. We’ll think it through with you and point you toward the therapist and the approach that fit.

You’ve done plenty of understanding already, and now it’s worth finding out what gets it moving.
